HOW LONG WILL I GET?  HOW TO KNOW AND WHAT TO KNOW.

After you have been found guilty of a crime (either by plea or after a trial) the next step is the sentencing hearing.  It does not matter how serious or minor the crime is, the defendant’s sentence will be determined by the judge based on certain factors. 

When the police come knocking you might feel caught off guard, nervous or confused.  As you quickly gather your thoughts, you may have many questions spinning through your brain.  Do the police need a warrant to come into your home?  What happens if you just don’t respond?  Why are the police even at your door if you didn’t do anything wrong; OR EVEN IF YOU DID? So what do you do?

“How much REAL time will I do.”  In Wisconsin the short answer is, ALL of it!

You have heard it before, an inmate being “up for parole.”  Perhaps what you do not know is that this traditional way of sentencing offender went away.
